“What an adventure!
Twenty-eight young burn patients and their 48 siblings, ages 6 to 16, rose to every athletic and adventurous challenge during our first Flanders Adventure day at and around the Lissenvijver in Geel.
On the high ropes course, the swamp course, or the obstacle course, they were able to push their limits. On the pond, they could let their heart rates slow down again while paddling a canoe or a raft.
In between, they tested their agility, reaction time, and problem-solving skills during challenging yard games. Before enjoying a tasty hamburger or hot dog, they competed against each other in laser tag and watched in awe as their peers descended on the zipline.
Their parents undoubtedly enjoyed watching their children’s athletic performances and connecting with the parentsof other children in similar situations.
The reactions of the beaming children and their proud parents have convinced us to hold another event like this.”
