16/10/25: Prevention lessons VBS Meerlaar

Contrary to what was planned, our last prevention training session of 2025 took place at the primary school in Meerlaar.
In the morning, 188 pupils watched with curiosity as the smoke chamber was set up.
They participated actively and with great interest in the prevention lesson in their classroom.
From now on, they will be better able to assess the dangers of fire and heat and, hopefully, respond appropriately when confronted with burns.
In small groups of three or four, supervised by an HBK volunteer, they practiced finding the exit as quickly and efficiently as possible in a room filled with smoke.
Finally, in addition to a prevention leaflet, they were all given a measuring stick with the all-important slogan ‘Water first, the rest comes later’.
